Crochet Dress & Diaper Cover -- Newborn

Paisley's Dress

Whipped up this cute little newborn dress, "Paisley's Dress," using the Lion Brand DIYarn that I had bought at Wal-Mart a few weeks ago @ $0.50 per 65 yard mini skeins.  The dress was less than $3.00 to make.  I used 1 65 yd skein of cream and almost all of 1 aqua; less than 1/2 skein for the purple and the pink (I just used what I already had leftover from another project so I just did as many complete rows in the purple and the pink that I could).

-- yarn is #4 worsted weight
--4.5mm hook for the dress and a 5mm hook for the sleeves
--4 coordinating 1/2" buttons
--1 seed bead for the front flower (optional)
--tapestry needle to weave ends

I'm still debating if I want to add an owl on a branch appliqué or some flowers along the last couple rows of the cream color.

I think this is a very cute, springy dress...

This dress was made using double crochet stitches for the dress and half double crochet stitches for the sleeves.  I made it 11" long.  I started with a chain of 38.

I didn't keep track of the rows of when I changed colors or how many rows I made.  Top chest part had a span of 7" from underarm to underarm.

Email or comment if you need or would like additional info....

Here's a pic of the matching diaper cover.
