Blogging...

I'm slowly figuring this blogging thing out...lol.  So, please be patient and kind.  As I get more familiar with manipulating my blog, I will post about canning, recipes, crafts and anything else that I think will be interesting/fun to do.

Teddy Bear Baby Blanket

Teddy Bear Baby Blanket

I love the way this baby blanket turned out. This is the perfect size to fit into my pack-and-play for the grand babies.

I used a 6 mm crochet hook and a teddy bear graph (link to graph below). It was completed by using the C2C (corner-2-corner) method of DC stitches and chain 6. The website, The Crochet Crowd, has the best tutorial for teaching C2C, if you're not familiar with it.

I used bulky yarn for my project. "Soft Taupe" by Bernat and "Forest" by Deborah Norville. I didn't save the label for the dark brown but it's by Bernat.

After I completed the graph portion of my blanket. I then wanted to do something different with the border:
1. First I completed 3 rows of single crochet in background color, then 2 rows of single crochet in soft taupe (for a total of 5 single crochet rows; with in mind that I placed 3sc stitches into each corner.)
2. In the next row, I did the following: HDC, ch 2, sk2 repeated around; with HDC, ch 2, HDC in each corner
3. The next row was made by: HDC, ch 5, repeated around; with HDC, ch 5, HDC in each corner.
4. The final round was made as follows: HDC, picot 3 (5 times) into each of the ch 5 spaces, then sc into ch 3 of the next ch 5 sp, ch 2 and sc into the next ch 3 sp of the next ch 5 sp. Repeat around. Fasten off. Weave ends.

The blanket measures approximately 29" x 35".
