Gingerbread All-In-One Hat & Neckwarmer...

After spending days lying in bed, I finally had to do something creative with my hands and came up with this design.  It's cute, efficient, requires minimal yarn and so versatile.

This project works up fairly quickly.  3-in-1:
1.  It's a Gingerbread Messy Bun/Ponytail Hat;
2.  Close the top and it's a Gingerbread Hat;
3.  Open the top and button around your neck for a Gingerbread Neckwarmer.

Gingerbread All-In-One Hat & Neckwarmer Pattern

Size:  3 months - Adult

Gauge:  6 HDC st x 5 rows = 2"

Materials:
--5.5mm hook
--#4 Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in Cafe Latte, Red and White (approx 60 - 80 yds) - yardage will vary slightly depending on the size you are making
-(5) 1/2" holiday buttons (I bought mine at Hobby Lobby)
--tapestry needle for weaving

U.S. Stitch Abbreviations:
Ch:  chain
Sl st:  slip stitch
St:  stitch(es)
SC:  single crochet
SC2tog:  single crochet 2 stitches together (creates a decrease)
HDC:  half double crochet
FHDC:  foundation half double crochet
DC:  double crochet
Rep:  repeat
FO:  fasten off

Special Note:  you will be making a rectangle-shaped piece.

Special Stitch:
FHDC:  this creates the chain and stitch at the same time and is easy to achieve.
1.  Start with a chain 3.
2.  Yarn over and insert hook into the 3rd ch from the hook.  Yarn over and pull through the first loop on the hook.  You will have 3 loops on your hook.
3.  Yarn over and pull through the 1st loop on the hook - this creates the chain stitch.
4.  Yarn over and pull through 3 loops - this creates the HDC stitch.
5.  Now continue making HDC stitches.  Yarn over and insert hook into the chain stitch created in step #3.  Repeat steps 3-5 to continue making the chain and HDC stitches,

Directions:
Adult (21" head circumference):

Christmas Blanket...

I love the simple design of my "Christmas" Blanket using Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Cherry Red, White and Hunter Green and a 6.0mm hook.

This blanket worked up over the course of 4-5 days, with me only working on it 2-3 hours per day.  I was sick in bed and had to do something with my hands.  This would make a wonderful gift in any trio of coordinating colors and can be made in no time.

It measures approximately 40" wide x 64" long.

 Christmas Blanket

Size:  Approximately 40" x 64"

Gauge:  I did not gauge this project.

Materials:
--6.0mm hook
--#4 worsted weight yarn (I used Red Heart Super Saver in Cherry Red, Hunter Green and White); yardage will depend on the size you want to make; I had the jumbo sizes and did not use all of any one color
--tapestry needle for weaving

U.S. Stitch Abbreviations:
Ch:  chain
Sl st:  slip stitch
St:  stitch(es)
HDC:  half double crochet
DC:  double crochet
Rep:  repeat
Sk:  skip
FO:  fasten off

Special Note:
1.  I worked my pattern as follows:  6 rows in white, 6 rows in green, 6 rows in red until my blanket measured 64" long.  I started and ended in white.
2.  I used HDC st for the blanket, however, you could use DC st to make it bigger.

Directions:
With white yarn:
1.  Ch101.  HDC in 2nd ch from hook and across.  Ch1 and turn.  Or, FHDC 100.  If you want your blanket wider than 40", then start with a bigger ch.  (100)
2.  1 HDC in each st across.  Ch1 and turn.  (100)
3.  3 HDC in first st.  Ch2, sk 2 st.  3 HDC in next st.  Rep across.  1 HDC in last st.  Ch1 and turn.  (100)
4.  3 HDC in each Ch2 space of previous row.  1 HDC in last st.  Ch1 and turn.  (100)
5-6.  1 HDC in each st across.  Ch1 and turn.  (100)

Now, switch to green yarn:
7-8.  1 HDC in each st across.  Ch1 and turn. (100)
9-10.  Rep #3 and 4.  (100)
11-12.  1 HDC in each st across.  Ch1 and turn.  (100)

Now, switch to red yarn:
13-14.  1 HDC in each st across.  Ch1 and turn. (100)
15-16.  Rep #3 and 4.  (100)
17-18.  1 HDC in each st across.  Ch1 and turn.  (100)

Continue to alternate colors, completing 6 rows per color until you reach your desired length.  I started with white yarn and ended mine in white yarn.

Border:
1-2.  With white yarn, 1 HDC in each st around, placing 3 HDC st in each corner.  Sl st join to first st and Ch1.
3.  I held red and white yarn together.  1 DC in each st around, placing 3 DC st in each corner.  Sl st join to first st and FO.  Weave ends.

Quick, simple and so pretty.  I really love the way it turned out.  I made this for a special someone and I can't wait to give it to them for Christmas....

Holiday Sparkle Hat...

I made this "Holiday Sparkle Hat" in a woman's size over the Thanksgiving weekend.  I used Red Heart's Holiday Yarn in Green/Silver and White/Silver and topped it off with a white faux fur Pompom.

Holiday Sparkle Hat

Holiday Sparkle Hat Pattern

Size:  This will fit the average woman's head; my head circumference is 21"; it measures 9" long

Gauge:  I did not gauge this project

Materials:
--6.0mm hook
--Red Heart Holiday yarn in Green/Silver and White/Silver held together (approx 1/2 skein of each color) or your favorite #4 worsted weight yarn
--white faux fur pompom (optional)
--tapestry needle for weaving

U.S. Stitch Abbreviations:
Ch:  chain
Sl st:  slip stitch
St:  stitch(es)
SC:  single crochet
HDC:  half double crochet
HDC2tog:  half double crochet 2 together (creates a decrease)
BLO:  back loops only
Sk:  skip
Rep:  repeat
MR:  magic ring
FO:  fasten off

Special Note:
1.  I held the 2 yarns together (double-stranded) to create a "Christmasy" effect;
2.  I slip stitch join and ch1 at the end of each round, however, if so desired, you can work this in the round.  If so, then use a stitch marker to keep track of the beginning/ending of round and move up for the start of each new round.
3.  I wanted this to be more of a slouchy type hat and made it 9" long; it's very comfortable on my 21" head circumference.  If you want a more beanie-type style, then reduce the number of repeat rounds you do in the pattern.

Directions:
1.  With 2 yarns held together, 8 HDC into MR.  Sl st join to first st and Ch1.  (8)
2.  2 HDC in each st around.  Sl st join to first st and Ch1.  (16)
3.  2 HDC in first st, 1 HDC in next st.  Rep around.  Sl st join to first st and Ch1.  (24)
4.  2 HDC in first st, 1 HDC in next 2 st.  Rep around.  Sl st join to first st and Ch1.  (32)
5.  2 HDC in first st, 1 HDC in next 3 st.  Rep around.  Sl st join to first st and Ch1.  (40)
6.  2 HDC in first st, 1 HDC in next 4 st.  Rep around.  Sl st join to first st and Ch1.  (48)
7.  2 HDC in first st, 1 HDC in next 5 st.  Rep around.  Sl st join to first st and Ch1.  (56)
8.  HDC2tog, 1 HDC in each of next 52 st, HDC2tog.  Sl st join to first st and Ch1.  (54)
9.  1 HDC in first st, Ch2 and sk 2 st.  Rep around.  Sl st join to first st and Ch1.  (18 st; 36 ch)
10.  1 HDC in first st, 2 HDC in ch space.  Rep around.  Sl st join to first st and Ch1.  (54)
11-16.  Rep steps 9 and 10.  (If you want a shorter length hat, then reduce the number of rounds that you complete.)
17-19.  Working in the BLO, 1 HDC in each st around.  Sl st join to first st and Ch1.  (54)
20-21.  1 SC in each st around.  (If you are making your hat a shorter length, then omit rounds 20 and 21)
Trim:
22.  With White/Silver strand only, 1 SC in each st around.  Sl st join to first st and Ch1.  (54)
23.  1 SC in each st around.  Sl st join to first st and FO.  Weave ends.  (54)

Optional:
Added a faux fur pompom or use your yarn and make a pompom.  You can use a pompom maker or, if you're like me, wrap the yarn 40-50 times around 4 fingers, cut yarn, tie in double knot it center and then trim ends.

I hope you will enjoy this cute and easy Holiday Sparkle Hat...

Santa Pillow

How cute is this Santa Claus using Bernat Blanket Yarn?!  This is the first of a trio I'm working on for this Christmas Season.

Amazon is an amazing resource for Bernat Blanket Yarn.  If you have a prime account, you can get a 220 yd ball for 8.00 with free shipping (lots of colors available) by clicking on this link:
https://www.amazon.com/Bernat-Blanket-Ounce-Lilac-Single/dp/B00KIFBIIU/ref=as_sl_pc_qf_sp_asin_til?tag=6045781042223-20&linkCode=w00&linkId=f45417dd74244f1e52e77b79cb7b2661&creativeASIN=B00KIFBIIU

Please do note that Santa's nose isn't as big as it appears in the pic.  I think it's from the lighting and me using my I-phone to take the pics late last night...lol!!!
