Snowman DIY

 Snowman DIY

I made this snowman using balloons, yarn and modpodge. I crocheted the top hat with black yarn. I then added the trim to the hat with glue.

I wrapped yarn around the balloons, added modpodge several times, drying between each time.  Once set, I used a pin to bust the balloons  I then joined the two balloons together with glue.  Allow to dry/set.

I tied a ribbon around the neck area. I added eyes, felt buttons, painted black for the mouth and belly buttons, with glue.  I used an orange pom for the nose.

To complete, I inserted lights into the body portion and glued the battery case to the back of the body of the snowman.

Super easy and cheap to make. Everything was purchased from Dollar Tree.

Candle Bulb Sticks

Candle Bulb Sticks

Dollar Tree DIY

This project was super easy to complete. Everything came from the Dollar Tree.

Materials needed:

—1 pack of the plastic champagne glasses. You will need 2 bases per candlestick

—2 packages of bulbs OR one of the larger set of bulbs

—black acrylic paint

—paint brush

—craft glue and hot glue

—2 battery operated candles

—2 skewer sticks

Directions:

I used the bottoms of the plastic champagne glasses for the base and top. I used a skewer to put the bulbs on. I took a lighter and warmed up the bottom of the bulbs and then just pushed the skewer through and out of the top. I removed the tops from the bulbs. Once I had all 3 bulbs on the skewer, I trimmed the skewer to leave only about a 1/2” for attaching the top base. I used craft glue and hot glue to secure the skewer to the bases. I let it completely set up and then I painted the bases black. Then just topped with the little battery candle.

Christmas Tabletop Decor

Christmas Tabletop Decor

I completed this super cute project using all items from the Dollar Tree.  You can use any Christmas decor you want to personalize to your liking.

I used 2 Christmas trees.  I removed the base and then joined the ends together, attaching with zip ties.

I then used white Elmer’s glue and dabbled in the tree to create “snow” and let dry.

Now the fun part:  place and glue floral, ornaments, trinkets and whatever else you may like.

Squidward Hat

My granddaughter wanted a Squidward Hat to wear with her costume this coming Halloween.

I made this quick and simple hat using a 5.0mm hook and worsted weight yarn. It was made with two stitches: single crochet (SC) and half double crochet (HDC).

My granddaughter squealed in delight when she saw it  She loves it.

Glacial Hat & Keyhole Scarf

Glacial Hat

Here’s my newest crocheted hat design - Glacial Hat!!!  It’s super soft and I absolutely love the texture of this. I haven’t decided yet if I want to add a removable faux fur pom to the top yet.

This hat was designed using “I Love This Yarn” from Hobby Lobby and a 5.0mm hook.

The design utilizes the following stitches:  single crochet, extended single crochet and half double crochet.

The hat was worked in the BLO once I completed my initial increase rounds.

Pretty, soft and very comfortable to wear.

And, here’s the matching keyhole scarf to wear with the hat…

Happy Crocheting!!!!

Sunflower Quilt

Sunflower Quilt

My daughter-in-law, Brooke, absolutely loves sunflowers. She is a mom of three - two boys and our newest granddaughter.  Now, I have a total of 5 grandchildren that keep me quite busy.

Anyway, when I spotted this variety pack of sunflower blocks, I knew it was for her. I decided to add a variety of purple blocks with it. And, then settled on a dark purple for the backing and bias (edging).

This quilt is completely handstitched since my sewing machine is at my camper in another state. Wv n so, doing this by hand did not take long at all. I binged watched NCIS and just stitched alone.

I’m very happy with how this throw quilt turned out and I’m so excited to gift it to Brooke.

Have any of you tried your hand at handstiching?  It’s just as relaxing as when I’m working on crochet or craft projects.

One tip I have learned is that I don’t like the self-threading needles (I think that’s what they’re called). The thread comes out of the eye of the needle too easily when going through the layers of fabric, batting and backing. But, that’s just me!!!!

If you’re a quilter, I’d love to hear any tips you would like to share. I’m a self-taught quilter for about 20+ years now but there’s always something out there to learn.

Happy Quilting!!!
