Size:  

14 1/2" x 8 1/2"

Materials:

-5.0mm hook

-#4 worsted weight yarn in brown, white and pink ( I used RHSS yarn)

-small piece of black embroidery for the mouth

-(2) 15mm safety eyes

-Polyfil

-Darning needle

U.S. Stitch Abbreviations:

Ch:  chain

St:  stitch

Sl st:  slip stitch

SC:  single crochet

HDC:  half double crochet

HDC2tog:  decrease 2 stitches

Rep:  repeat

MR:  magic ring

FO:  fasten off  

Directions:

(make 2):

1.  With brown yarn, Ch6.  In 2nd ch from hook, and across, 1 HDC in each ch.  Ch1 and turn.  (5)

2.  2HDC in first st, 1 HDC in next 3 st, 2HDC in last st.  Ch1 and turn.  (7)

3.  2HDC in first st, 1 HDC in next 5 st, 2HDC in last st.  Ch1 and turn.  (9)

4.  2HDC in first st, 1 HDC in next 7 st, 2HDC in last st.  FO and weave ends.  (11)

5.  Join white yarn with a sl st and ch1.  2HDC in first st, 1 HDC in next 9 st, 2HDC in last st.  Ch1 and turn.  (13)

6.  1 HDC in each st across.  FO and weave ends.  (13)

7.  Join brown yarn with a sl st and ch1.  2HDC in first st, 1 HDC in next 11 st, 2HDC in last st.  Ch1 and turn.  (15) 

8.  1 HDC in each st across.  Ch1 and turn.  (15)

9.  2HDC in first st, 1 HDC in next 13 st, 2HDC in last st.  Ch1 and turn.  (17) 

10.  1 HDC in each st across.  Ch1 and turn.  (17)

11.  2HDC in first st, 1 HDC in next 15 st, 2HDC in last st.  Ch1 and turn.  (19) 

12.  1 HDC in each st across.  Ch1 and turn.  (19)

13.  2HDC in first st, 1 HDC in next 17 st, 2HDC in last st.  Ch1 and turn.  (21)

14-20.  1 HDC in each st across.  Ch1 and turn.  (21)

21.    HDC2tog, 1 HDC in next 17 st, HDC2tog.  Ch1 and turn.  (19)

28.  1 HDC in each st across.  FO and weave ends.  (13)

29.  Join brown yarn with a sl st and ch1.  HDC2tog, 1 HDC in next 9 st, HDC2tog.  Ch1 and turn.  (11)

30. 1.  HDC2tog, 1 HDC in next 7 st, HDC2tog.  Ch1 and turn.  (9)

31.  HDC2tog, 1 HDC in next 5 st, HDC2tog.  Ch1 and turn.  (7)

32.  HDC2tog, 1 HDC in next 3 st, HDC2tog.  FO and weave ends  (5) 

     

Cheeks:

(make 2):

1.  With pink yarn, 6 SC into MR.  Sl st join to first st.  Pull tail to close center.  FO and leave a long enough tail for attaching. 

 

Stripe:

1.  With white yarn, Ch16.  In 2nd ch and across, sl st.  FO and leave long tail for attaching to center front piece.  (15)

Assembly:

1.  Attach eyes at Rows 13/14 and 19/20.

2.  Embroider mouth under and between eyes.

3.  Attach cheeks to the outsides of each eye.

4.  Attach stripe in the center above eyes.  With the tail, make sure to add, little vertical lines on the stripe.  (See pic)

5.  Join 2 pieces together.  With hook, sl st join brown yarn in any stitch and ch1.  SC in each stitch evenly around.  Before closing, add Polyfil.  Finish up and close off.  Weave ends.

-1 black plastic eye (6mm)

-black and pink yarn for facial features

-Polyfil

-tapestry needle

U.S. Stitch Abbreviations:

Sl st:  slip stitch

SC2tog: single crochet 2 stitches together (decrease)

HDC:  half double crochet 

Rep:  repeat

Note:  pattern is worked in the round; use a stitch marker to keep track of each new round and move the marker up on each new round

Leaf:

1.  With green yarn, Ch7.  Sl st, SC, HDC, HDC, HDC and 3HDC in last ch.  Rotate and work on the opposite side of the base ch.  HDC, HDC, HDC, SC and Sl st.  Sl st to the first st.  Leave a long enough tail for attaching.  

Using black and pink yarn add the facial features (see pics).
