Castle Tissue Box Cover
Materials:
-5.0 mm hook
-“I Love This Yarn” in Flapper Girl and Purple
-Puff paint in black and yellow
-Tapestry needle
U.S. Stitch Abbreviations:
Ch: chain
Sl st: slip stitch
SC: single crochet
SC2tog: single crochet 2 stitches together (decrease)
HDC: half double crochet
Sk: skip
Rep: repeat
FO: fasten off
Directions:
First, I made the side all in one piece.
1. Ch 56. HDC in 2nd ch from hook and across. Ch1 and turn. (55)
2-14. HDC in each st across. Ch1 and turn. (55)
15. DC in each of the first 4 st. FO and weave ends. *Sk 3 st. Insert hook into next st. Ch1. DC in same st and next 3 st. FO and weave ends.* Continue to rep from * to * across, leaving the last two st unworked. FO and leave a long tail to weave ends together.
Close the piece horizontally with right sides facing each other. Whip stitch the short ends together. Weave ends and trim excess. Turn right side out.
Now, you will make the top portion.
1. Ch16. HDC in 2nd ch from hook and across. Ch1 and turn. (15)
2-5. HDC in each st across. Ch1 and turn. (15)
6. HDC in each of the first 4 st. Ch7 and sk 7 st. HDC in each of the last 4 st. Ch1 and turn. (15)
7. HDC in each of the first 4 st. HDC in each ch. HDC in each of the last 4 st. Ch1 and turn. (15)
8-10. HDC in each st across. Ch1 and turn. At the end of Row 10, FO and leave a long tail for attaching the top to the side piece.
You will whipstitch the top and side together and weave ends. I placed my side piece on the tissue box cover. I then placed the top piece on and just whipstitched around to attach the two pieces together.
For the door, I used purple yarn and single crochet stitches.
1. Ch8. SC in 2nd ch from hook and across. Ch1 and turn. (7)
2-5. SC in each st across. Ch1 and turn. (7)
6. SC2tog, SC 3x, SC2tog. Ch1 and turn. (5)
7. SC2tog, SC1x, SC2tog. Ch1 and turn. (3)
Border:
1. SC in each st around. Place 2 SC in each corner st. Sl st join to the first st and FO. Leave a long tail for attaching.
Door Handles:
I used yellow puff paint.
Black metal Door Plates:
I used black puff paint.
My puff paint skills aren't the greatest, as of yet. You can crochet instead of using paint. The next time I make one I will crochet instead of using the paint.
