I completed this cute C2C elephant blanket last night for a baby shower gift. I used "I Love This Yarn" #4 worsted weight from Hobby Lobby and a 5mm hook.
The blanket was made using standard, double crochet C2C method.
The border was done as follows:
--1 row sc in navy
--1 row sc in greybeard
--1 row dc in greybeard
--2 rows fpdc & bpdc in greybeard
--1 row sc in navy
-- on the sc rows I added 3 sc in each corner
-- on the other rows I added 3 dc in each corner
I used the elephant pixel graph from the following link:
What is that stitch you used for the blanket?
ReplyDeleteI made this blanket with the corner-to-corner method, using double crochet stitches. I hope this helps. Please let me know if I can help or better explain anything further.
DeleteThis crocheting and how do you make it
DeletePenny, this blanket was made using a graph and starting in one corner. I started with a chain 6 and then you double crochet into the 4th, 5th & 6th chain to create the first diagonal block. Here is a link to a great tutorial on how to make a corner-to-corner (C2C) blanket: http://crochet.about.com/od/skillstechniques/tp/Guide-to-Corner-to-Corner-Crochet.htm?utm_content=20160306&utm_medium=email&utm_source=exp_nl&utm_campaign=list_crochet&utm_term=list_crochet&utm_source=pinterest&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=shareurlbuttons_nip
DeleteLove this blanket! What were the other colors you used, and about how many skeins of each color?
ReplyDeletePink - for the tongue; approx 1 yard
DeleteBlack - outline portion of elephant; less than 1 skein
Light grey - 1 skein
Graybeard - I bought 2 skeins but it did not take all of it
Navy - less than 2 skeins
All of the yarn was bought at Hobby Lobby, "I Love This Yarn" brand. My apologies on a delayed response. I was having email issues that's now fixed. Please feel free to message me any other questions you may have. Thanks.
Hello!
ReplyDeleteI'm currently making this but using bulky blanket yarn. How big your blanket was with the worsted yarn?
Hey, Tiffany, I don't remember the exact measurement now of it but it was around 32-34" wide & 38-40" long. I hope this helps gives you an idea. I'd love to see a pic of yours when you get it finished. I bet it will be super warm with the bulky yarn.
DeleteThanks you
ReplyDeleteYou're most welcome. Good luck if you give corner-to-corner method a try. It may look hard but it really isn't once you get the hang of it. It's so much fun making blankets this way.
DeleteThank you for sharing the pattern. Just made this for a baby gift. Love it,it turned out great.
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful. I would love to see a pic of yours. If you decide to post it anywhere, please share a link so I can see it.
DeleteHi, can you confirm if this is an American or English crochet pattern?
ReplyDeleteIt is written in US terminology.
DeleteCan you do this graph in SC or HDC?
ReplyDeleteYes, you can, however, you may want to increase how many stitches each box equals/represents for sizing. Good luck.
DeleteI have just finished my first graphgan C2C teddy bear and love it! I'm hoping to make the baby elephant for a shower gift. Do you have a written pattern (row by row, from a corner)?
ReplyDeleteNo, I'm sorry, I don't. I just used the graph and plugged my color choices in it. Good luck.
DeleteThis is my first C2C with graph. I have tore out 4 times and now feeling great. BUT silly question. When you start the decrease Row, does it start as soon as your turn your work and start the row? Or do you do it when you finish the row. I hope I'm not too confusing. thanks so much
ReplyDeleteYou will start the decrease row as soon as you turn. You will slip stitch over to the ch2 space and start there. Good luck.
DeleteOr Ch3 space if you did it with double crochet stitches.
DeleteThe chart looks as if there are three shades of gray. There seem to be some slightly "lightest gray" stitches at the top right and bottom left of the light gray tummy--about 5 stitches in each location, with one stitch of the light gray between those and the darker gray. You only mention two shades of gray in your list of colors. Did you make the entire tummy the same shade of light gray?
ReplyDeleteYes, I used one shade for the tummy.
