Christmas Blanket...

I love the simple design of my "Christmas" Blanket using Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Cherry Red, White and Hunter Green and a 6.0mm hook.

This blanket worked up over the course of 4-5 days, with me only working on it 2-3 hours per day.  I was sick in bed and had to do something with my hands.  This would make a wonderful gift in any trio of coordinating colors and can be made in no time.

It measures approximately 40" wide x 64" long.

 Christmas Blanket

Size:  Approximately 40" x 64"

Gauge:  I did not gauge this project.

Materials:
--6.0mm hook
--#4 worsted weight yarn (I used Red Heart Super Saver in Cherry Red, Hunter Green and White); yardage will depend on the size you want to make; I had the jumbo sizes and did not use all of any one color
--tapestry needle for weaving

U.S. Stitch Abbreviations:
Ch:  chain
Sl st:  slip stitch
St:  stitch(es)
HDC:  half double crochet
DC:  double crochet
Rep:  repeat
Sk:  skip
FO:  fasten off

Special Note:
1.  I worked my pattern as follows:  6 rows in white, 6 rows in green, 6 rows in red until my blanket measured 64" long.  I started and ended in white.
2.  I used HDC st for the blanket, however, you could use DC st to make it bigger.

Directions:
With white yarn:
1.  Ch101.  HDC in 2nd ch from hook and across.  Ch1 and turn.  Or, FHDC 100.  If you want your blanket wider than 40", then start with a bigger ch.  (100)
2.  1 HDC in each st across.  Ch1 and turn.  (100)
3.  3 HDC in first st.  Ch2, sk 2 st.  3 HDC in next st.  Rep across.  1 HDC in last st.  Ch1 and turn.  (100)
4.  3 HDC in each Ch2 space of previous row.  1 HDC in last st.  Ch1 and turn.  (100)
5-6.  1 HDC in each st across.  Ch1 and turn.  (100)

Now, switch to green yarn:
7-8.  1 HDC in each st across.  Ch1 and turn. (100)
9-10.  Rep #3 and 4.  (100)
11-12.  1 HDC in each st across.  Ch1 and turn.  (100)

Now, switch to red yarn:
13-14.  1 HDC in each st across.  Ch1 and turn. (100)
15-16.  Rep #3 and 4.  (100)
17-18.  1 HDC in each st across.  Ch1 and turn.  (100)

Continue to alternate colors, completing 6 rows per color until you reach your desired length.  I started with white yarn and ended mine in white yarn.

Border:
1-2.  With white yarn, 1 HDC in each st around, placing 3 HDC st in each corner.  Sl st join to first st and Ch1.
3.  I held red and white yarn together.  1 DC in each st around, placing 3 DC st in each corner.  Sl st join to first st and FO.  Weave ends.

Quick, simple and so pretty.  I really love the way it turned out.  I made this for a special someone and I can't wait to give it to them for Christmas....

Happy Crocheting...
