Troll "Poppy" Hat

My husband's co-worker sent me a caricature of Poppy with a note wondering if I could make a hat for her.

Well, of course, as a crocheter, we never say no...lol.  I'm not sure what's up with that thought process that we (crocheters) automatically say yes to any challenge.

So, I spent the weekend making this hat. And, I will admit the hair was the longest process.

Ears:
You can use any free alien ear pattern to make the ears. It’s been over 3 years since I made this pattern and I honestly don’t remember how I made them. But, Pinterest is a great resource.

Hair:
I attached lots of strands of yarn around the top of the hat.  I didn’t measure the length of the strands but remember you will need to tie hair in center for a ponytail.  You will leave a small amount of hair for the bangs.

To achieve the look, I used a hairbrush. It took several hours of brushing for me to achieve the look I wanted.

Happy Crocheting...

  2. I'm really looking for a pattern that I can make for my deep water running class... older males, females... I have made the usual - dishcloths and the like. Thought about bookmarks but most use kindles, nooks or tablets. I really need to look outside the box.
