May Round-Up

May proved to be a very busy, creative and productive month for me!!!!

My apologies on my blog getting behind with updated patterns. I’m in the process of attempting to teach my daughter-in-law my shorthand so that she can hopefully add all the patterns and get my blog up-to-date for me.

Here’s two collage pics of my Crocheting and Crafting Projects I completed in the month of May...

For now,

Mandarin Orange Kawaii

 Mandarin Orange Kawaii

I made this SUPER cute, Mandarin Orange, after receiving my beautiful “Soap Bouquet” of Mandarins from Ireland!!!

This was a super fast and cute project.  I used a 4mm hook and Premier Home Cotton yarn in Tangerine Splash.

Spa Set

Spa Set

I love how this set turned out. I used double-stranded yarn to make the square and round baskets sturdy.  Each will be great for storing items.

For the scrubbies, I made them double layered. They are super soft and 100% cotton.

The eye mask is made in acrylic yarn and is very soft and comfortable to wear at night.

The soap saver is made with 100% cotton yarn and super soft.

This set is gender neutral and perfect for a man or woman.

I’ve only made this one set and it’s now listed in my Etsy shop.  The set includes:  1 square basket, 1 round basket, 3 scrubbies, 1 soap saver and 1 eye mask!!!

Hair Barrette

 Hair Barrette

I made this simple and cute “Hair Barrette” using the Fur Stitch for my granddaughter, Miss Arielle.

I used grey yarn but this would look so cute in all colors!!!  It works up really fast using a combination of SC, DC and chain stitches.

Beach-themed Wall Hanging!!!

 Beach-themed Wall Hanging!!!

I absolutely love how this project turned out.  To make it even more special, the wood plank I used came from my mom’s floor.  Keepsake memory to always have.

Now, to make this all you need is a plank that measures approximately 8”x14”. It took three coats of blue acrylic paint to cover mine.
I then painted two small wood baskets (from the Dollar Tree) in Caribbean.  I painted a palm tree and pineapple wood sticker to add to each basket.

I then added a starfish and crab to the wood plank. Each were part of a 3-piece hanging from the Dollar Tree.

Last, I used jute rope to go around the plank and then made a hanger.

Everything was attached using a hot glue gun and Gorilla glue sticks.

To finish off, I painted two small wood round pieces in Teal and attached to the opposite corners of the baskets.  I then added seashells to one basket; for the second basket, I added greenery, a few shells and a small jar of sand (salt and cinnamon)...

And, that’s it!!!  This was an easy, fun and inexpensive summer project to add to your home decor.
And, here’s a short video clip...

Home Sweet Home Sign

 Home Sweet Home Sign

I bought this sign at the Dollar Tree for the sole purpose of giving it a makeover.  It was the perfect size and already had a hanger on the back for hanging.

To start, it looked like this:

I removed the paper from the front.  First, by hand, and then by soaking in water.  It easily came off and then I allowed drying time.

Since I already knew this was going in my half bath, I needed to use black and yellow.

Black for the background:

Yellow for the stencil:

I then used amber/gold sticker gems for the border:

Last, I hot glued a piece of greenery and a sunflower to the right corner.

And, that’s it!!!  Cheap to chic...

Tiered Stand

 Tiered Stand

For this project, I purchased everything at the Dollar Tree.  Two plastic party trays, 1 glass vase, 1 package Starburst Gem stickers and 1 package of Crystal Gem stickers.

I decorated the trays and vase first.  I then used my hot glue gun to glue the bottom of the vase to the center of one tray.  I then glued the bottom of the second tray to the top of the vase.

That’s it!!!
