Crochet Hearts Bottle Cozy...Valentine's Day or Everyday use...

Hearts Bottle Cozy

I crocheted this Hearts Cozy for a bottle on this very rainy and dreary day here in North Carolina.  As you can see in the pics, I made six small hearts, placing 3 on a skewer to use as a decor item.  But, you can simply omit the additional Hearts and just use the cozy.

I loved the round of double crochet stitches in pink that look like Hearts.

Materials:
This cozy was made in the round, using a 4mm hook and #4 worsted weight yarn in red, pink and white.

Directions:
***you will slip stitch and chain 1 at the end of each round, unless told otherwise...***
1.  With red yarn, I started with 8 single crochet stitches in a magic ring.
2.  Second round increased to 16 stitches. (2 single crochet per stitch)
3.  Third round increased to 24 stitches.  (2 single crochet, then 1 single crochet...repeat around)
4.  Fourth round increased to 32 stitches. (2 single crochet, then 1 single crochet in the next 2 stitches...repeat around)
5-26.  1 single crochet in each stitch around.  At the end of Round 26, on the last stitch, join pink yarn, slip stitch to first stitch and chain 1.

(Hearts Round)
27.  With pink yarn, you will make 4 double crochet stitches into the same space as the chain 1, then
chain 1 and skip 3 spaces.  Then, *4 double crochet in the next stitch, chain 1, skip 3 spaces...* repeat around.  On the last stitch, re-join red yarn and chain 1.

28.  With red yarn, *1 Single crochet in the middle of the previous round double crochet cluster, then chain 2, 3 double crochet into the 2nd skipped stitch of the previous round, chain 2...* repeat around.  Slip stitch to first stitch.  Fasten off.  Weave ends.

Using pink yarn, I made a chain of 80 and weaved it in and out just below the double crochet cluster row.  Tied into a bow.  I made 3 heart appliqués and attached.

That's it!!!
