3 Simple Flower Designs....

Today, I worked on 3 cute flower designs that can be used in a multiple of ways - napkin rings, on a headband/hat, on a hair clip, pin to a summer dress/top, put on a wreath...you can basically pin/attach it to anything to add a little flare/color.  Each flower uses very little yarn.

3 Simple Flowers

Difficulty Level:  Easy

Materials:
--4mm hook
--#4 worsted weight yarn (I used Redheart Super Saver & Lion Brand); 5-7 yards per flower
--tapestry needle for weaving

Stitch Abbreviations:
Ch: chain
Sl st: slip stitch
St: stitch(es)
SC: single crochet
SC2tog: single crochet 2 stitches together
HDC: half double crochet
HDC2tog: half double crochet 2 stitches together
DC: double crochet
TC: triple crochet
MR: magic ring
FO: fasten off

Directions:

Blue Hearts Flower: 
(Make 4)
1.  Ch5.  SC in 2nd ch from hook and across.  Ch1 and turn.  (4)
2-4.  SC in each st across.  Ch1 and turn.  (4)
5.  2 HDC in first st, sl st in next 2 st and 2 HDC in last st.  FO and weave ends.
Next, using the tapestry needle and a piece of yarn, you will weave in and out of Row 1 of each petal to join the petals together (see pic below):

And, now, you will pull the tail to tighten and join the petals together.  Tie into a knot and weave ends.

To make a center:
1.  Ch4 and sl st into 1st ch.  FO and attach.  Weave ends. 

Pink Rose Flower:
(Make 5)
1.  Ch6.  SC in 2nd ch from hook and across.  Ch1 and turn.  (5)
2-4.  SC in each st across.  Ch1 and turn.  (5)
5.  HDC2tog, 3 DC in next st and HDC2tog.  FO and weave ends.
 
Next, using the tapestry needle and a piece of yarn, you will weave in and out of Row 1 of each petal to join the petals together (see pic below):
And, now, you will pull the tail to tighten and join the petals together.  Tie into a knot and weave ends.

To make a center:
1.  Ch6.  3 SC in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across.  This will cause a rosebud to form.  Weave tail end upward to make sure the bud stays closed/joined and then attach to center of flower.  Weave ends.  


Spring Green Butterfly Flower:
(Make 4)
1.  Ch6.  SC in 2nd ch from hook and across.  Ch1 and turn.  (5)
2-4.  SC in each st across.  Ch1 and turn.  (5)
5.  SC2tog, into next st - TC, DC, TC - then SC2tog.  FO and weave ends.  (5) 
Next, using the tapestry needle and a piece of yarn, you will weave in and out of Row 1 of each petal to join the petals together (see pic below):
And, now, you will pull the tail to tighten and join the petals together.  Tie into a knot and weave ends.

To make a center:
1.  3 SC into MR. Sl st to join and FO.  Attach to center and weave ends.  
To make the ring for a napkin ring:
1.  Ch6.  SC in 2nd ch and across.  Ch1 and turn.  (5)
2-15.  SC across.  Ch1 and turn.  At the end of Row 15, you will sl st Row 15 to Row 1.  Leave tail to attach to back of flower.
