I couldn't resist making the Ponytail Earwarmer/Headband in a Fox Pattern...lol!!! Isn't he super cute? I hope you all enjoy this pattern as well.
Fox Ponytail Earwarmer/Headband:
Difficulty Level: Easy
Size: This will fit an average woman's head. If you need to make it for a tween/teen, then reduce your number of repetitive rows (for adult it goes from 6-44; so, reduce here)
Materials:
--5.0mm hook
--Lion Brand's Vanna's Choice in Terra Cotta, Black and White (approx 70-80 yds total)
--ponytail holder
--1 small black button (for nose tip)
--1 small black button (for nose tip)
--stitch markers
--tapestry needle for weaving
Directions:
Follow Basic Instructions, except, OMIT, step #6. You will be working with 10 HDC stitches, (instead of 12 HDC stitches) from Rows 5-45. Then continue with rows 46 and 47. Here's the Link for the Basic Pattern:Now, FO; leaving a long tail to attach to Row 3 of the opposite side of the ponytail holder; whipstitch 8 stitches of Row 47 to the 8 stitches (from stitch marker to stitch marker -- see pic above; stitch makers on the left side) of Round 3.
Border:
1. Join white yarn in top, right corner in the back with a sl st and ch1. Work 1 SC in each st evenly around. (see pic below)
2-3. 1 SC in each st around. At the end of Round 3, FO and weave ends.
Nose:
1. Ch14, SC in 2nd ch and across. Ch1 and turn. (13)
2. 1 SC in each st across. Ch1 and turn. (13)
3. SC2tog; 1 SC in next 9 st; SC2tog. Ch1 and turn. (11)
4. 1 SC in each st across. Ch1 and turn. (11)
5. SC2tog; 1 SC in next 7 st; SC2tog. Ch1 and turn. (9)
6. 1 SC in each st across. Ch1 and turn. (9)
7. SC2tog; 1 SC in next 5 st; SC2tog. Ch1 and turn. (7)
8. 1 SC in each st across. Ch1 and turn. (7)
9. SC2tog; 1 SC in next 3 st; SC2tog. Ch1 and turn. (5)
10. 1 SC in each st across. Ch1 and turn. (5)
11. SC2tog; 1 SC in next st; SC2tog. Ch1 and turn. (3)
12. 1 SC in each st across. Ch1 and turn. (3)
13. SC3tog. Ch1 and turn. (1)
14. 1 SC. FO, leave a long tail for attaching.
Nose tip:
--attach small black button to tip
Eyes (make 2):
1. With black yarn, 6 SC into MR. Sl st to join and FO. Embroider with white yarn. (see pics)
Ears (make 2):
1. With black yarn, Ch2. 1 SC in 2nd ch from hook. Ch1 and turn. (1)
2. 2 SC into st. FO black yarn and join Terra Cotta. Ch1 and turn. (2)
3. 2 SC in first st; 1 SC in next st. Ch1 and turn. (3)
4. 1 SC in each st across. Ch1 and turn. (3)
5. 2 SC in first st; 1 SC in next st; 2 SC in last st. Ch1 and turn. (5)
6. 1 SC in each st across. FO Terra Cotta and join white yarn. Ch1. (5)
7. SC around the entire ear. FO and leave a long tail for attaching.
And, that's it!!! The possibilities are endless in making a multiple variety of different Ponytail Earwarmer/Headbands...
