Rudolph Ponytail Earwarmer/Headband

Here's my first design from my Basic Ponytail Earwarmer/Headband pattern -- Rudolph Ponytail Earwarmer/Headband.  With the start of July, I thought something to celebrate "Christmas in July" was in order...lol.  

Rudolph Ponytail Earwarmer/Headband Pattern

Difficulty Level:  Easy

Size:  This will fit an average woman's head.  If you need to make it for a tween/teen, then reduce your number of repetitive rows (for adult it goes from 6-44; so, reduce here)

Materials: 
--5.0mm hook
--Lion Brand's Vanna's Choice in Barley; approx 60-70 yds for the base Earwarmer/Headband; Chocolate, Red, White and Black yarn for the ears, antlers, nose and eyes (see below for yardage needed)
--ponytail holder
--stitch marker
--tapestry needle for weaving

Gauge:  12 HDC stitches x 8 rows = 4"

Stitch Abbreviations:
Ch: chain
Sl st: slip stitch
St: stitch(es)
SC: single crochet
SC2tog: single crochet 2 stitches together
SC3tog:  single crochet 3 stitches together 
HDC: half double crochet
HDC2tog: half double crochet 2 stitches together 
FO: fasten off 

Directions:
Follow the pattern for the Basic Instructions to the Ponytail Earwarmer/Headband.  Here's the link:


Antlers (make 2):
(5.0mm hook and Vanna's Choice in Chocolate 8-10 yds)
1.  6 SC into MR.  Sl st to join and Ch1.  (6)
2.  2 SC in first st; 1 SC in next st.  Repeat around.  Sl st to join and Ch1.  (9)
3-5.  1 SC in each st around.  Sl st to join and Ch1.  At the end of Round 5, FO, leaving a long tail to attach.

Ears (make 2):
(5.0mm hook and Vanna's Choice in Barley 4-5 yds)
1.  6 SC into MR.  Sl st to join and Ch1.  (6)
2.  2 SC in first st; 1 SC in next st.  Repeat around.  Sl st to join and FO.  Leave a long tail for attaching.  (9)

Nose:
(5.0mm hook and Vanna's Choice in Red 1-2 yds)
1.  6 SC into MR.  Sl st to join and Ch1.  (6)
2.  1 SC in each st around.  Sl st to join and FO.  Leave a long tail for attaching.  (6)

Eyes (make 2):
(5.0mm hook and Vanna's Choice in Black and White 4-5 yds)
1.  With black yarn, 3 SC into MR.  Sl st to join and FO.  (3)
2.  Join white yarn.  2 SC in each st around.  Sl st to join and Ch1.  (6)
3.  1 SC in each st around.  Sl st to join and FO.  Leave a long tail for attaching.  (6)
