Whipped Mocha Pillow Covers

I finished up this pillow cover set today for a housewarming gift.  I wanted it to be removable for washing in the laundry when needed.  So, I crocheted this on both sides of the foundation chain, continually working in rounds.  The covers are made to fit 12x12 pillows.

You can find the cute owl appliqué on my previous post.

Pillow Covers

Here's a few pics while I was working on them:

Difficulty Level:  Easy

Measures:  Pillows are 12"x12" in size

Gauge:  6 HDC st + 5 rows = 2"x2"

Materials:
--5.5mm hook
--2 skeins of Yarn Bee's, Sugarwheel in Whipped Mocha
--2 (12"x12") pillow forms
--tapestry needle for weaving

Stitch Abbreviations:
Ch:  chain
Sl st:  slip stitch
St:  stitch(es)
HDC:  half double crochet
FO:  fasten off

Directions:
1.  Ch 46.  HDC in 2nd ch and all the way across.  Rotate to work on opposite side of base chain.  HDC in each st on that side.  Then sl st to first st and Ch1.  (90)
2-25.  HDC in each st around.  Sl st to first st and Ch1.  (90)

At the end of Round 25, FO and weave ends.  As you can see in my pics, I folded my cover on the diagonal and then inserted the pillow forms.  I wanted the pillow covers to be removable for easy laundering.  Now, of course, you can add buttons or a zipper if you so choose, but I just left mine as is.

The owl applique can be found here if you want to make one for one or both of your pillows:

And, that's it!!!!  PIN now - and make later if you're pressed for time!!!

Happy Crocheting...

    1. You're welcome. I know my daughter-in-law's sister really liked them for her condo.

  2. I'm so confused on how it goes from being worked horizontally to being used diagonally and how it doesn't need a zipper. Also how would I adjust it if I need to make a cover for an 18 by 18 pillow

    1. My pattern was designed for a 12x12 pillow. The starting chain would have to be bigger for the 18x18 size. But, a zipper/button is optional to add. I did not add to mine. Once complete and you fold it diagonally and insert the pillow. I know it sounds confusing but it does work.
