Days Of Creation Play Book...

Well, I finished my Days of Creation Play Book this afternoon.  Yay!!!  I'm sure my grand babies are going to enjoy playing with it plus it's a simple visual aid to actually teach the 7 Days of Creation....

This was a great stash buster project -- not too much of any one color!!!!  I designed all of the appliqués that were used, even my own letters and numbers.  This was a little time consuming for me since I was designing each pattern - some portions were taken apart multiple times before I was finally happy with the end result.  Plus, I was trying to keep each pattern in the easiest explanation format so that even a beginner could tackle and complete.

Color choices are optional -- use what you have!!!  I used a mixture of "I Love This Yarn" from Hobby Lobby and Redheart Supersaver.  So, I just had to watch my gauge and made sure everything sized up correctly.  I used multiple hook sizes in this project.  I tried to create a "split screen" on several of the pages so I had to adjust my hooks to make some of the appliqués smaller to fit.

The finished book measures approximately 9" x 9". So, it's a nice, big size for those little hands...lol.

Days of Creation Pattern

Difficulty Level:  Easy

Materials:
 --Hook sizes 1.75mm (used for the Creation letters on the cover); 6mm (used to make book cover);
5mm (used to make the clasp for the book cover); 5.5mm (used to make the pages and appliques); 4mm (used to make appliques); 4.5mm (used to make the numbers and letters for the pages); 3.5mm (used to make stars)
--#4 worsted weight yarn in your colors of choice (I will specify below in each section the colors I used)
--(1) 1" button for the book cover clasp - I used a black button
--tapestry needle for weaving

Abbreviations:
Ch: chain
Sl st: slip stitch

HDC:  Half Double Crochet
DC:  Double Crochet
TC:  Triple Crochet

Creation:
I used a 1.75mm hook with a fine yarn.
C:  Ch19, SC in 2nd ch and across.  FO.
r:  Ch8, SC in 2nd ch and across.  FO.
e:  Ch19,  SC in 2nd ch and across.  FO.
a:  Ch3, SC in 2nd ch and across.  Make 18 rows; then 2 sc on the side for the slight curve.
t:  Ch10, SC in 2nd ch and next 2, picot, SC in remaining ch.  Rotate and sl st up base ch and make another picot parallel to the first picot st made.  FO.
i:  Ch6, SC in 2nd ch and across.  FO.  For the dot, Ch2, SC in 2nd ch from hook.  FO.
o:  Ch3, SC in 2nd ch and next ch.  Make 18 rows.
n:  Ch19, SC in 2nd ch and across.  FO.
Leave long enough tails for attaching each letter to the book cover.  A few of the letters will have to be whipstitched to shape (e, a, o).  Shape and pin each letter to attach.

Whew!!!  This took me several hours to type.  I pray there's no typos.  If you come across something that doesn't make sense or if I omitted something, please comment or email me so I can correct it!!!!
